Corey B. Quaglia
Financial Advisor
College Unit Director

Selling property and casualty insurance policies, Corey Quaglia soon discovered he wanted to protect more than things. The transactional approach to the business didn’t allow him to build a relationship with his clients.

Beyond homes and vehicles, he wanted to help people with one of life’s biggest stressors – personal finance. That led to an introduction to Northwestern Mutual – Chicago and the career as a financial advisor.

In his own words, Corey is sharing why he made the move, what challenges he faced and what was key to his success.

Making A Difference

From personal experience, I know how detrimental the lack of financial planning with a trusted advisor can be to a family. After an accident injured my father, our family life derailed in so many ways. The impact was profound and life-changing. It’s this experience that fuels my conviction not to let others face the same challenges.

Backed by Northwestern Mutual and it’s a solid reputation to do what is in our clients best interests, we help clients live life by design, not default.

Making the Career Change

As an athlete, I know the importance of being coachable. The development opportunities position you for success if you are willing to listen. In addition to the top-notch training, mentoring and coaching, I was selected early in my career to participate in our 1872 Leadership Development Program. As one the graduates of this program for young aspiring leaders, I was able to learn essential leadership skills that are guiding me with both my practice and my role as a College Unit Director within our internship program.

Career Rewards

Being able to pay for my wedding and build a home are great financial rewards. Equally important are the awards that I have earned for building a successful personal financial planning practice. At the same time, being recognized as a Top College Unit Director is a distinct honor.

As a business owner, I enjoy the flexibility to spend time playing for the Chicago Griffins Rugby team and traveling with my wife, Maggie.
